Al Musharrakh is a member of the Advisory Group of the Human Rights Council

The UAE has become a member of the Advisory Group of the Human Rights Council, representing the Asia-Pacific Group. The appointment of Jamal Al Musharrakh, the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, as a member of the Advisory Group of the Human Rights Council, is an embodiment of the status enjoyed by the UAE and the confidence of the international community in the pivotal role it plays in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, which strengthens its institutional presence within the Council’s mechanisms.
The Advisory Group is an important component of the work of the Human Rights Council, as it plays a pivotal role in providing advice to the Council, especially with regard to the process of selecting and appointing mandate holders under the special procedures. The Advisory Group also submits its recommendations to the President of the Human Rights Council.
It is worth noting that the advisory group consists of five members, who are appointed by the regional groups, and the group’s membership lasts one year for the period from 2026 to 2027.
