Aboul Gheit: The Palestinian people are subjected to horrific crimes by a brutal occupier who does not respect the law and evades peace

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, confirmed that the Palestinian people are still being subjected to the most heinous crimes and inhuman acts committed by a brutal occupier who does not respect international law and does not show any real intention to achieve peace, stressing that the continuation of these violations represents a blatant challenge to the human conscience and the international legal system.

 

This came in his speech during the opening session of the forty-first session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, which was held today. Wednesday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, headed by Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Darf, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Sudan, and with the participation of Ministers of Justice and heads of Arab delegations.

Aboul Gheit said that this session is being held at a very precise time when the Arab region is going through stormy political and security developments, noting that the ongoing conflicts in a number of Arab countries, the suffering of civilians in Sudan, and the repercussions of terrorism, organized crime, drugs, human trafficking, and money laundering, all exacerbate the humanitarian crises. And threaten societal peace.

He explained that the continuation of conflicts represents a fertile environment for insecurity and the spread of criminal activity within countries and across borders, stressing that security solutions, despite their importance and necessity, are not sufficient alone to confront these challenges. Rather, an integrated judicial and legal approach must be adopted that balances security requirements with humanitarian principles and addresses the roots of crises rather than being satisfied with their consequences.

The Secretary-General indicated that the current global situation is witnessing an increase in extremism and division, Social media has become a dangerous weapon that fuels intellectual extremism and weakens moderation, stressing that confronting violence and terrorism requires spreading an alternative culture that reinforces the values of moderation and openness and not surrendering to the extremist climate created by electronic platforms, especially among young people.

He added that terrorism that hides behind religious slogans is still a present danger despite the successes achieved by Arab countries in defeating it, explaining that Takfiri thought is still capable of spreading its poisons in societies, and that confrontation requires integrated action. Between security and judicial institutions in all Arab countries, with the exchange of experiences and strengthening cross-border cooperation.

Aboul Gheit stressed that joint Arab action in the judicial and judicial fields has become a necessity to confront complex and interconnected criminal phenomena, praising the role of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice in supporting joint Arab legislation and drafting indicative laws that contribute to unifying legal concepts among Arab countries.

He also thanked the Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the efforts he made during his presidency of the fortieth session. To the Council, he congratulated the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Sudan on assuming the presidency of the current session, wishing success in the work of the Council and the decisions it issues that contribute to strengthening Arab legal and judicial cooperation.
