A gas pipeline explosion disrupts supplies in southwest Pakistan
A bombing targeting a major natural gas pipeline led to a supply outage in several areas in southwestern Balochistan province Pakistan, after an attack carried out by unidentified gunmen.
The GasPakistan National News Agency reported that an 18-inch diameter pipe was blown up in the city of Quetta in the Akhtarabad region, causing a fire to break out and disrupting supplies to a number of neighborhoods, including Hazara Town, Hazarganji, Khizi and Nohsar.
The impact of the explosion extended to other areas in the province, including Pishin, Ziarat, Kalat, Mastung and Kuchlak, where supplies through the main distribution network were stopped.
/>The company explained that large parts of the pipeline were destroyed, noting that technical and engineering teams arrived at the accident site to assess the damage in preparation for the start of repair work.
