India begins the world’s largest population census to control social and political conditions


India has started the largest A national census in the world, which could reshape social welfare programs and political representation across the country.
The previous census, in 2011, recorded the population at 1.21 One billion people, as estimates indicate that the population has now reached more than 1.4 billion people, making India the most populous country in the world.

Stages of conducting the population census

A new population census was scheduled for 2021, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and logistical challenges.
The first phase of the population census began today, Wednesday, and will continue in various parts of the country during September.
Staff will spend about a month in each region collecting information about Homes and facilities are available and they will document housing stock and living conditions.
While the second phase will record more detailed information, such as: people’s social and economic characteristics, including religion and social class. More than 3 million government employees are expected to be deployed during the year.
