The UAE national team wins 7 medals at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Bangkok

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu team for the under-21 youth category, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, began its journey in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, hosted by the Thai capital, Bangkok, from November 12 to 14, with a strong performance that culminated in winning seven colorful medals, two gold, three silver, and two bronze.

Ammar Al Hosani won a gold in the under 94 kg category, Rashid Al Shehhi won a gold in the 56 kg category, while Fahd Al Hammadi won a silver in the 77 kg category, Rashid Al Haimani won a silver category in the 94+ kg category, Muhammad Al Shehhi won a silver category in the 56 kg category, Faisal Al Wahidi won a bronze category in the 69 kg category, and Abdul Rahman Muhammad won a bronze category in the 62 kg category.

Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said that what the players have achieved today reflects the integrated work system in developing the sport of Jiu-Jitsu within the country, explaining that behind every achievement is an integrated system that begins with family support and encouragement, passes through the efforts of schools and clubs, and is completed by the vision of the federation, which laid the correct foundations for creating champions.

He added that the school jiu-jitsu program has proven to be an essential pillar in preparing a generation that combines skill, discipline and self-confidence.

For his part, Rashid Al Shehhi, winner of the gold medal in the 56 kg weight, expressed his pride in representing the UAE and achieving this achievement and said that what was achieved today is not an ordinary achievement, but rather a message to every young Emirati that persistence makes the difference. I started from school, and learned that jiu-jitsu is not limited to mat techniques alone, but rather is a way of life that instills in its practitioners the values ​​of respect, trust, and teamwork. My family was my first support, and their support was a great motivation for me.

The championship competitions will continue tomorrow with the participation of the under-21 women’s category, amid great ambition to continue the achievements and add more medals to the country’s tally.
