Water Sports Federation elections next Thursday

The Water Sports Federation will hold its electoral general assembly meeting next Thursday, to select a new board of directors for the 2024-2028 sports session, in the meeting room of the Olympic Committee building.

Nine clubs that are members of the General Assembly are participating in the electoral process, namely: Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club, Al Hamriya Club, Dibba Cultural Club, Dibba Al Hisn Club, Al Dhaid Club, Ajman Club, Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Maliha Club, and Al Wasl Club.

The Chairman of the Elections Committee of the Emirates Water Sports Federation, Dr. Mohammed Al Hammadi, confirmed that the committee had completed all organizational and administrative arrangements for the electoral process, noting that the procedures were carried out in accordance with the approved regulations to ensure integrity and transparency.

Al-Hammadi explained that the nomination window opened on January 30, and closed on February 9, followed by a meeting of the Elections Committee on the same day to review the applications.

He added that the initial list of candidates was issued on February 11, while the appeals window was opened on the 12th, and closed on the 15th at five in the evening, before the appeals decisions were issued and the final list of candidates was approved on the 16th.

He pointed out that the procedures schedule includes announcing the election results on February 26, with the door for appeals on the results being opened on March 1, closing on March 5, then issuing the decisions of the Appeals Committee on the 8th, and approving and announcing the final results of the new sports session on the 9th. Al Hammadi stated that the General Assembly represents an important milestone in the Federation’s journey, and reflects the pivotal role of the clubs in shaping the features of the next phase of water sports in the country, stressing that the committee is working to create all conditions to ensure that the electoral meeting runs smoothly in accordance with the highest regulatory standards.
