The Minister of Health witnesses the launch of national guidelines for the event-based surveillance system

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the launch ceremony of the national guidelines for the event-based surveillance system, to enhance early monitoring and immediate response to health threats related to infectious diseases, food and water safety, or any practices that affect public health.

The event was attended by the Ministry’s leaders, as part of the activities of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25) in its third edition, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan “Empowering individuals… promoting progress… providing opportunities,” during November 12-15, 2025.

The minister stressed the role of the preventive medicine sector in protecting citizens, within an integrated system with the ministries of agriculture, environment, housing, the drug and food safety authorities, and international partners such as the World Health Organization and CDC Africa, to coordinate efforts and provide rapid intervention.

He pointed out that technological developments and means of communication have increased the speed of the spread of information, Which requires immediate monitoring and scientific verification, explaining the system’s ability to continuously monitor health events (poisoning, infectious diseases, food problems), and take rapid preventive and remedial measures while following up with the governorates.

He stressed that the system includes monitoring water, food, and the environment, with government coordination to ensure that data reaches decision-making, which enhances the response before cases worsen.

He continued that the system focuses on prevention, early intervention, crisis management, unifying efforts, and taking advantage of digital technologies and scientific analysis for safety. Citizens.

He stressed that Egypt has become a leading African and global model in event-based surveillance, thanks to continuous training, national and international cooperation, and the state’s investment in health infrastructure, with a full commitment to protecting health and enhancing health security nationally and regionally.

It is worth noting that, at the conclusion of the celebration, the Minister presented the system’s guideline.
