المملكة: Photos| “Jeddah Municipality” deploys 1,621 mechanisms to raise rainwater collections

The Jeddah Governorate Municipality initiated intensive field efforts to raise Water accumulationsand treatment of affected sites, as a result of the rain that the governorate witnessed over the weekend.

These urgent movements aimed to ensure the safety of residents and maintain the flow of traffic on public roads.

The secretariat explained that Emergency plans were activated immediately upon receiving reports from the National Center of Meteorology, where 7,160 personnel were deployed, supported by 1,621 pieces of equipment and machinery. The teams were spread across 11 municipalities and 15 support centers, in full coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure a quick and effective response.

Raising the level of readiness

The Secretariat confirmed that this response comes as a result of raising Level of readiness and early preparation for the season. These preparations included comprehensive maintenance of existing rain drainage networks, and ensuring the readiness of pumps, equipment and human crews to ensure immediate dealing with emergency situations.

The secretariat indicated that it is continuing to follow up on alerts issued by the National Center of Meteorology and the Crisis and Disaster Management Center, in conjunction with activating awareness messages through its official channels to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

With the governorate being affected by thunderstorms, the “secretariat” renewed its call to everyone to Take caution. She stressed the importance of staying away from water puddles and avoiding sources of electrical currents. It also called for immediate reporting of any emergency cases related to the effects of the rainy condition, via the unified number 940 or through the “Baladi” application.
