Kamel Al-Wazir: An Egyptian naval fleet will transport 25 million tons of goods annually in 2030

Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, reviewed the information about East Port Said Port, which will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its inauguration on 11/28/2015 as a model for the development of Egyptian ports, explaining that its location is distinguished, and at the intersection of 3 continents, at the northern entrance to the Suez Canal, where it works as an integrated logistical and industrial center serving the Mediterranean region and the Middle East. And Europe.

 

This came during the inauguration by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of a number of marine stations in the Suez Canal economic zone in the eastern Port Said region today, Sunday.

 

He pointed out that the total area of ​​the port is 8.8 km2, with a total length of berths of 14.6 km and depths of “18.5” 22 " meters depth. The port is divided into three stages. The first stage is 2.4 km long, “Maersk Terminal.” – The second phase, 6 km long, “Expansions of Maersk Terminal, Western Pier, Roots Dry Bulk Terminal, RORO Car Exchange Terminal, Sky Multi-Purpose Terminal” The third phase is 6.2 km long.

 

 

He explained that the port was linked to a multimodal transport network, namely the July 3 tunnels in Port Said, where two tunnels with a total length of 9660 meters were constructed with entrances and exits to connect the port with the Treaty Road and the June 30 Road west of the canal, as well as a railway connection, where a 42 km long railway line was constructed from Baloza to Port Said, and also linked to a network of main roads represented by the "Road Transverse 1 – Port Said Road / Baloza – Qantara Road / Arish"

 

 

He also reviewed the strategy of the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Transport, to develop the maritime transport sector by reviewing the second axis, which is the axis of developing the maritime fleet. He explained that the Egyptian maritime fleet is being developed to reach 40 ships in 2030, capable of transporting 25 million tons of various goods annually, through the companies affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, which are companies " National Navigation Company – Egyptian Petroleum Tanker Company – Cairo Ferry Company – Arab Bridge Navigation Company " This aims to serve the transport of passengers and strategic goods, including grains and petroleum, between Egypt and the rest of the world.

 

 

He pointed out that the National Navigation Company currently owns 14 ships in the company’s fleet, in addition to 4 ships that have been contracted and 2 ships that are planned to be contracted in 2027, reaching 20 ships in 2030. He added that the Egyptian Petroleum Tanker Company currently owns 2 ships and is currently contracting for 4 ships to reach 6 ships in 2030, and the Cairo Ferry Company, which currently owns 2 ships and is under contract for 2 ships, reaching 4 ships in 2030, and the Arab Bridge Company, whose fleet consists of 10 ships.
