NATO Secretary General praises"Practical security approach" Finland and its role in European defense

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that Finland can rely on all its allies within the alliance, praising the active role it has played since its accession in April 2023.
This came during a joint press conference held by the NATO Secretary General, today, Monday, at the alliance headquarters in Brussels with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who is on an official visit to hold a bilateral meeting with NATO leadership.
He said Rutte said that Finland has proven to be a capable and reliable ally, thanks to its practical approach in dealing with security and defense issues, pointing to its outstanding contributions to protecting undersea infrastructure, whether through its national efforts or through the participation of its forces in the “Baltic Guardian” mission. He added that Finland plays an important role in securing NATO’s airspace and supporting the alliance’s space capabilities, in addition to its strategic experience in the Arctic region.
He pointed out that Finland and Sweden are working together to establish a new advanced NATO ground force inside Finland to enhance the deterrence and defense situation in Northern Europe. He also welcomed the establishment of the Multi-Corps Land Forces Component Command in the city of Mikkeli, which will plan and supervise the operations of NATO’s ground forces in the north of the continent.
During the conference, Mark Rutte also praised Finland’s "firm" To Ukraine, stressing that Helsinki recently provided an investment worth 100 million euros within the PURL initiative for Ukraine’s urgent needs, in addition to the contributions of allies in the Nordic and Baltic countries, bringing the total military aid allocated through the initiative to about 2.8 billion euros.
