"Energy and infrastructure" Airbus organizes a session to promote the sustainable aviation fuel system

Dubai, 19 November / WAM / The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in cooperation with Airbus, organized a communication session for the Executive Committee of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and Low Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF), on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

Participating in the session were His Excellency Eng. Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, and Gabriel Semels, President of Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, along with representatives of government agencies, regulatory bodies, airlines, fuel suppliers and sector partners, with the aim of consolidating cooperation and coordinating national efforts to accelerate the adoption of sustainable, low-carbon fuels, in a way that supports the UAE’s journey in developing a more efficient and sustainable aviation sector.

His Excellency Engineer Sherif Al Olama stressed that the UAE continues to strengthen its role in leading the future of the global aviation sector, by adopting clear paths to achieve climate neutrality and increase the participation of sustainable fuel in the air transport system.

He said that this meeting reflects the UAE’s approach based on partnerships, by bringing together the government and private sectors to enhance the availability of sustainable fuel and support long-term low-carbon fuel solutions, expressing his hope that all partners will emerge with greater consensus and a clearer vision of the next steps to support the country’s ambitions in this field.

He stressed that the extended partnership with Airbus represents a pivotal element in the country’s efforts to accelerate the development of advanced fuel technologies, and to enhance the UAE’s position as a global center for low-carbon fuel, green hydrogen, and clean energy industries.

For his part, Gabriel Simels praised the UAE’s pioneering role in innovation and development of the sustainable aviation sector, stressing that cooperation between the two sides reflects a shared conviction in the importance of unified action to enable the transition towards low-emission aviation fuel.

He expressed pride in the partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and in the vision that contributed to strengthening joint efforts towards a more sustainable aviation system, noting that through continued cooperation, practical solutions will be developed that contribute to building a cleaner and more innovative future for the global aviation sector.

This event comes as part of a series of national initiatives aimed at enhancing the UAE’s readiness to adopt sustainable aviation fuel, and supporting clean energy solutions in line with its strategic directions towards achieving climate neutrality and enhancing the competitiveness of the aviation sector at the global level.
