The Cabinet approves a draft decision to issue a regulation regulating foreign photography inside Egypt
The Council of Ministers, during its meeting today, chaired by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, approved the Prime Minister’s draft decision to issue a regulation regulating foreign filming within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The regulation stipulates that the Egypt Film Commission, affiliated with the Egyptian Media Production City Company, shall undertake the necessary coordination to obtain the approvals of the relevant authorities for foreign filming work within the Arab Republic of Egypt, and it will be the only body entrusted with that.
The regulation also stipulates that a digital window shall be created. One for foreign filming, and the committee is responsible for managing, supervising and developing it, and taking procedures to finalize the necessary approvals and permits, and foreign filming may not be dealt with except through this window.
The entities dealing with the committee are committed to electronic linking with it, in their capacity as responsible for the single digital window for foreign filming, to facilitate the provision of the necessary services and approvals collected through it, taking into account the technical and insurance controls and cybersecurity rules approved by the concerned authorities.
The Egypt Film Committee, affiliated with the Egyptian Company for the Production City, is responsible for the production. Media outlets, promoting the Arab Republic of Egypt as an attractive country for investment in implementing foreign production projects, coordinating with relevant authorities to obtain script approvals and obtaining foreign filming permits, while working to facilitate the procedures for the entry and exit of filming equipment from the country in coordination with the Customs Authority, following up on filming work for foreign production companies and working to overcome all obstacles that filming may face, as well as providing logistical support to facilitate foreign filming requirements.
The committee is also responsible for cooperating with the relevant ministries and state agencies to provide all equipment, services and personnel. required for filming, displaying the locations in which filming is permitted within the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the digital window, in addition to introducing the laws, decisions and instructions regulating foreign filming within the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the nomination of local artistic production companies to implement foreign production projects within the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as the nomination of Egyptian technical personnel necessary for foreign production projects, in addition to accompanying foreign production teams upon their arrival and departure at all airports and ports in the Arab Republic of Egypt, with coordination with the relevant state authorities to provide incentives for major cinematic projects to attract international production projects to the Republic of Egypt. Arabic, in addition to setting frameworks for bilateral cooperation by concluding joint protocols with all ministries and agencies related to foreign photography work, including the tasks and duties of each of them and the price list for the services provided.
The regulation stipulates that the various state agencies are committed to coordinating with the committee; To facilitate the necessary procedures for foreign photography work within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
