A strong start for the professional competitions at the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu World

Abu Dhabi, November 20 / WAM / The qualifying competitions for the professional category for those holding purple, brown and black belts in various weights began today, within the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

Today’s competitions brought together elite players from various countries of the world to compete in the country qualifiers, where two players from each country for each weight category qualify for the main rounds that will be held tomorrow in a knockout system for the purple and brown belts, and on Saturday for the black belt category.

His Excellency Mohammed Humaid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The professional category competitions are the station that everyone waits for, given the distinguished technical levels that reflect the players’ experience and high potential. Today we witnessed strong fights in the qualifying rounds that were characterized by advanced tactics, speed, and precision in applying technical methods, which proves that progress in these competitions requires high concentration, especially from black belt holders, from whom we are accustomed to exceptional performances that add more enthusiasm to the tournament.”

He added: “The country qualifiers system reflects the great value of the tournament and ensures a wide international presence in the decisive rounds, as it gives the opportunity for the best players from different countries to be present in the final qualifiers. This model contributes to raising the level of competition and motivating players to develop their abilities to reach the advanced rounds.”

In turn, Faisal Al Wahidi, a player from the Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, said after qualifying for tomorrow’s competitions for the 69 kg purple belt: “I am happy to have qualified for the final qualifiers, and I consider my participation in the tournament an important milestone in my career. The fights today were strong and required high concentration at every moment, but the intense preparations during the last period gave me confidence on the mat. I enter the final qualifiers with greater determination to compete for gold, and I will continue to study the competitors’ methods and benefit from my previous experience to achieve the best possible performance.”

Russian Edward Dimora, from the Zr Team Association in Brazil, who is participating in the black belt competition – professional category – 94 kg, said: “Participating in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is of special importance. The atmosphere here is different, and the large public presence gives the players the motivation they need, especially since the tournament includes elite champions from various schools around the world.

He added that he had prepared well for this tournament over the past months. “I came with the highest levels of physical and technical readiness, and my goal is to deliver a strong performance that reflects my true capabilities.”

The fights will continue tomorrow with the finals for the purple and brown belts and the black belt qualifiers, concluding the day after tomorrow with the black belt finals for the professional category starting at six in the evening, while the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Award will be held next Sunday evening.
