Enforcement Under the directivesof the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them -, the medical and surgical team of the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins began the operation Separation of the Filipino conjoined twins (Olivia and Gianna), at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in King Abdulaziz Medical City at the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
Details of the twins’ case
His Excellency the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, President of The medical and surgical team of the program, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, said in a press statement that the Filipino conjoined twins (Olivia and Gianna) came to the Kingdom on January 27, 2026 AD, and they are two years and two months old. After the twins entered the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children, the medical team conducted careful and multiple examinations for them and held several meetings during which they concluded that they are conjoined to the chest and abdomen and share a liver and possibly a part From the intestines, and one of them suffers from congenital heart defects that pose a risk to her.
He pointed out that a skin extension surgery was performed by implanting medical balloons under the skin to help close the wounds after the separation process.
Stages of the operation
He stated that the operation is scheduled to be conducted in (6) stages, and will take about (8) hours – God willing – and that 22 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff will participate in it, stating that this operation is considered one of the Delicate operations, and their success rate – God willing – exceeds 70%. Dr. Al-Rabiah drew attention to the fact that this is the fourth operation for conjoined twins from the Philippines, and it is No. (72) within the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins, which since 1990 has been able to care for (158) twins from (28) countries on (5) continents.
