“White Friday 2025” offers…early launch and unprecedented expansion

Yesterday, e-commerce platforms in the UAE markets began offering expanded offers on the occasion of what is known as “White Friday,” with discounts ranging between 25 and 75%, with most of these offers extended until the end of this November.

At the same time, traditional retail markets witnessed the launch of parallel discount campaigns, while the names of promotional campaigns on electronic platforms varied between “White Friday,” “Yellow Friday,” “Amazing Friday,” “Super November,” and “Flash November.”

Consumers told Emirates Today that this year’s discounts brought new initiatives, most notably the early launch of offers that started on November 27, as well as extending them to the end of the month or until the first week of next month, with an increase in the diversity of participating entities, and an expansion of the range of discounted goods to include personal care products, perfumes, clothes, shoes, and nutritional supplements, instead of the traditional focus on electronics only.

For their part, specialists in the retail sector reported that this diversity is due to the increased intensity of competition in the market, in addition to the desire of platforms and stores to target consumers who plan to travel during the unified winter holiday for schools next December, which lasts for four weeks.

Early launch

In detail, consumer Sherif Abdel Aziz said that many e-commerce platforms launched “White Friday” offers early this year, extending them for longer periods compared to previous years, as the offers were usually offered from November 27 to 30, coinciding with the last Friday of the month.

As for consumer Adel Mounir, he confirmed that this year’s offers were more comprehensive, as they were not limited to electronic devices, but rather extended to a variety of products, such as personal care, perfumes, clothes, shoes, and nutritional supplements.

In turn, consumer Mahmoud Hamed said that the diversity of offers offered, whether under the name “White Friday” on some platforms or within various campaigns under other names, in addition to the availability of offers in traditional stores, provided families with greater options for shopping at distant intervals, especially with the offers extending until the end of November or the first week of next month, and consumer Yasser Omar agreed with him that “White Friday” offers were more diverse and expanded compared to previous years, whether through electronic platforms or stores.

Strong competition

For his part, Business Development Director at one of the e-commerce platforms, Nilesh Raju, said that the early launch and extension of the “White Friday” offers under different names according to the marketing policies of each platform, came as a result of the strong competition witnessed in the retail markets in the country, which prompts the platforms to launch more innovative initiatives to attract consumers.

In the same context, the sales official at one of the retail chains, Dilip Vishal, said that traditional stores also took the initiative to offer their special discounts on the occasion of “White Friday,” but under different names, in an attempt to present various campaigns, without focusing on one type of offers in a way that allows a more diverse scope for consumers, with the aim of attracting a larger segment of consumers, especially with the approaching holiday and travel season during the coming period, whether for the first semester holiday or even the Union Day holiday that immediately follows the sales period at the beginning of next month.

Various products

The CEO of Jumbo Electronics, Vikas Chadha, said that the offers offered include various products for phones and electronic devices, including computers, televisions, and home appliances, as well as smart wearable devices and accessories, with different discount rates.

For his part, retail trade expert, Ibrahim Al-Bahr, confirmed that the timing of the offers this year was a major factor in increasing the discounts and extending the period of their offering, as many offers continue until the beginning of the Union Day holiday, which is immediately followed by the uniform winter holiday for schools, which prompted the platforms and stores to enhance their competitiveness, and attract consumers to buy holiday supplies and gifts early.

. The names of the offers on electronic platforms varied between “White Friday,” “Yellow Friday,” “Amazing Friday,” “Super November,” and “Flash November.”
