Al Balushi is preparing to celebrate the title of “Motorcycle Legend” in the Dubai Rally

Emirati cyclist Mohammed Al Balushi is preparing to celebrate the title of “Motorcycle Legend” in the World Cup Short Desert Rally Championships (Baha), during his current participation in the Dubai International Rally – the final round of the 2025 season calendar for cars, bikes and quads, which kicked off yesterday, in its ninth edition, in front of the “Dubai Festival City Mall”, with the participation of 100 teams from 30 countries.

Al-Balushi will enter the rally, securing his third world title in a row, and the fourth in his career, regardless of his result in the (Dubai Rally), which extends its stages until tomorrow, in a special celebration that Al-Balushi, who was crowned world champion for the seasons (2018-2023-2024-2025), is looking for to declare himself the most crowned cyclist in the history of the “Baha” world championships.

Al Balushi told Emirates Today: “I look forward to witnessing the end of an exceptional season, rising to the podiums in Dubai, gifting the Emirates with a new achievement, and celebrating the ideal image in front of this audience with the achievement of (the most crowned riders) in the history of the World Cup for Short Desert Rallies (Baha).”

He added: “I enter the Dubai Rally, and I am at the top of the general standings with 87 points, with a comfortable margin of distance from the Lebanese cyclist Rafik Eid in second place, with 62 points, which gives me, regardless of the result of the Dubai Rally, the clinching of my fourth world title.”

He added: “I am determined to provide the best performance throughout the stages of the Dubai Rally, to celebrate my exceptional season in front of the Emirati audience, the achievement I achieved in the 2025 season, and to be singled out for the title of (the most crowned rider) in the history of the World Cup for Short Desert Rallies (Baja), and to end the partnership that brought me together with the Italian cyclist Alessandro Ross, who was crowned World Cup champion in the 2013, 2014 and 2017 seasons.”

He continued: “There is nothing like celebrating in front of this audience that has always stood behind me in my past years, in a season during which I was able to climb the podium in second place in the opening round in Saudi Arabia at the beginning of last February, and settle for fifth in the second round in Portugal, before grabbing first place in the third round of the Jordan Rally last April, and then securing the World Championship title in the last round in Qatar by obtaining second place.”

He concluded: “Winning in Dubai has a special flavor, as it is the most prestigious rally in the region, and it has successfully joined the (World Cup) championships since 2012, in an event that annually represents the conclusion of the (Baha) races, and the title of which is aspired by the elite drivers in the world, whether in cars, bikes or quads.”
