Two people suspected of stealing England national team equipment have been arrested

The American police announced the detention of two people in connection with the theft of equipment belonging to the England national team while it was being transported from the state of Florida to Kansas City, which the team has taken as the headquarters of its permanent camp during the 2026 World Cup competitions in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Kansas City Police Chief Phil DeMartino said that two people were arrested in connection with the incident, while authorities explained that the theft occurred sometime on Friday evening during the ground transportation of the equipment.
For his part, the city’s mayor, Quinton Lucas, said that officials in Kansas City learned that property belonging to the England national team had been stolen during its transport from Florida to the training facility in the city.
Lucas added: “Local, state and federal security agencies are working to trace where the theft occurred within the United States and identify all persons who may be connected to the incident.”
The Football Association confirmed the theft occurred sometime on Friday evening, but declined to provide further details due to ongoing police investigations.
The English team chose Kansas City as its main headquarters during the tournament despite not playing any group stage match there, taking advantage of its central geographic location that facilitates transportation to the cities hosting its matches.
The England national team is scheduled to begin its tournament campaign by facing Croatia next Wednesday near the city of Dallas, before meeting Ghana in Boston and Panama in New Jersey, while the cities of the West Coast remain accessible by flights if it qualifies for the knockout rounds.
