Egypt hosts the largest economic forum of the Union of Mediterranean Parliaments, headed by Abou El-Enein

Cairo will host the Economic Forum of the Union of Parliaments for the Mediterranean during the 28th and 29th of this November, which is the largest economic gathering of the Union of Mediterranean Parliaments, which includes 42 countries in the Mediterranean. Egypt assumes the presidency of the conference and the sessions that vary between political and economic cooperation, energy, environment and culture, to formulate a new future for cooperation and partnership in all fields between the countries of the Mediterranean. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The conference, which is chaired by MP Mohamed Abu El-Enein, President of the Union of Parliaments for the Mediterranean, will witness The representative of the Egyptian House of Representatives held extensive discussions on the major issues that the region has witnessed over the past years, and how to overcome them and formulate new solutions and visions. At the top of these issues is the Palestinian crisis and the suffering of the Palestinian people that the world has witnessed during the past two years, ending with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Conference, which was attended by 30 leaders of the world’s countries, as well as the political impact and transformations that the southern Mediterranean countries are witnessing on illegal immigration, climate and energy crises, environmental and cultural cooperation, and the economic disparities they are experiencing. During the two days of the Economic Forum, a number of sessions were held by the committees of the Union of the Mediterranean Parliament, including a meeting of the Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights Committee, the Economic, Financial and Education Affairs Committee, the Women’s Rights Committee in Euro-Mediterranean Countries, and the Energy, Environment and Water Committee, where the meetings witnessed discussions and the formulation of recommendations aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean, focusing on the economic, social, security and educational dimensions and addressing the main issues related to energy, environment and water management with the aim of supporting sustainable development and regional integration between the two shores of the Mediterranean. Mediterranean countries.

 

The Economic Forum of the Union of Parliaments for the Mediterranean is also witnessing the launch of the first international youth conference with the participation of young people from all participating countries, as well as the revival of the Barcelona Declaration on its thirtieth anniversary, this unique and ambitious initiative that laid the foundations for a regional partnership in Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, building on what has been achieved over the past years and developing regional cooperation frameworks among the Mediterranean countries in a way that suits the events that the region and the world are currently experiencing.
