"Emirates Medical" Organizes an advanced workshop in women’s restoration and beauty

Sharjah, November 26 / WAM / The Obstetrics and Gynecology Division of the Emirates Medical Association organized a pioneering specialized workshop that is the first of its kind in the Arab world in the field of women’s reconstruction, cosmetics and functional renewal, due to its reliance on practical training on human samples, which makes it an unprecedented scientific station in the region.

The workshop was held over two days at the Clinical and Surgical Training Center of the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, with the participation of an elite group of obstetrics and gynecology consultants from the UAE and a number of Arab and European countries.

The workshop, which was organized in international cooperation with the American Society of Gynecology and Urology, comes within the framework of efforts to exchange experiences, enhance clinical research, and develop science-based practices.

The workshop was supervised by three specialized trainers: Sheikha Dr. Alia bint Humaid Al Qasimi, the first Emirati woman to specialize in women’s reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, and head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division at the Emirates Medical Association, Dr. Rashad Haddad, a consultant in gynecological surgery and pathology and an international expert in women’s plastic and reconstructive medicine, and Dr. Amr Saif Al-Din, a consultant in gynecology and women’s reconstructive and plastic surgery.

The workshop included two main sections, including “Non-surgical injections” and “Surgical methods”, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all modern techniques in this precise specialty. The non-surgical part focused on cosmetic injection techniques, energy-based devices, and vital treatments such as plasma (PRP) injections, stem cells, and exosomes, in addition to filler and Botox techniques and their applications in improving tissue quality and accelerating wound healing, including caesarean section wounds.

The surgical part included the latest gynecological reconstructive and functional rejuvenation procedures, with a review of clinical evaluation methods before and after procedures, and how to safely deal with complications.

The practical part adopted the direct intensive training method, where a human sample was allocated for each of two doctors only, which allows the procedures to be applied accurately under direct supervision and raises the level of training to what resembles individual training.

The workshop witnessed interactive discussions among the participants, and the exchange of experiences on the latest international practices and clinical cases, which contributed to enriching the scientific aspect of the 12-hour program approved by health authorities.

The workshop aims to enhance professional development paths for doctors, support efforts to raise the quality of health services in the country, and contribute to pivotal issues such as empowering women, encouraging medical tourism, and developing scientific research in precise medical fields. It also falls within the responsibilities of the Emirates Medical Association to provide specialized training in light of the expanding scope of practices that are not based on scientific foundations in some regional markets.

Sheikha Dr. Alia bint Humaid Al Qasimi told the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that organizing the workshop in the UAE represents a pivotal step in the history of the development of this specialty in the Arab world, pointing out that adopting practical training on human samples is a qualitative leap, because it gives doctors a realistic opportunity to understand precise anatomy and apply procedures with the highest levels of safety.

She added: “We train not only in beautification, but also in restoring function and improving the quality of women’s lives, as studies indicate that more than 60% of women in the region resort to treatment abroad due to the scarcity of subspecialties, which places on us the responsibility of transferring international expertise to the country and providing reliable and advanced training that is reflected in the level of health care locally and regionally.”

She stressed that the UAE is taking confident steps towards becoming a regional center for training and development in this specialty, noting that the aim of holding the event is to empower the local doctor, support women, and enhance patients’ confidence in receiving treatment within the country, thus enhancing the file of medical tourism and placing the UAE in a pioneering position in the Arab world in advanced women’s specialties.
