Strengthening the Egyptian-European partnership in the discussions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission for the Mediterranean

He met Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, with “Dubravka Šoica” The European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean yesterday, Thursday, on the sidelines of his participation in the tenth regional forum of foreign ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean in Barcelona, where the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the Egyptian-European partnership and developments in regional files.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel-Aty praised the growing momentum witnessed by Egyptian-European relations, stressing that the first Egyptian-European summit held on October 22 constituted an important turning point in developing the path of cooperation between the two sides, especially in implementing the six axes of the partnership. The strategy, stressing the importance of building on the outcomes of the summit.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the efforts made to launch the Mediterranean Charter, which aims to enhance integration among the Mediterranean countries, confront common challenges, and seize economic, social and cultural opportunities.

 He stressed the importance of strengthening European investments in the southern Mediterranean, facilitating the access of Egyptian exports to European markets, and developing regular migration paths, in a way that serves common interests and the importance of linking migration to development and addressing the root causes of illegal migration. Legitimacy, taking into account the three main axes of the Charter, which are human development, economy, security and migration management.

The official spokesman added that the meeting touched on developments in the regional situation, especially the Palestinian issue, where the Foreign Minister stressed that Egypt will continue its efforts to stabilize the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip in accordance with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement.

Stressing the importance of implementing the Security Council resolution on Gaza and the need to enable the International Stabilization Force to carry out its mandate, Along with the unhindered access of humanitarian aid, he noted the aspiration for the effective participation of the European Union in the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction, which will be hosted by Egypt.
