المملكة: More than 100 countries participate in the Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies Conference in Riyadh


(EPR2025), organized by in cooperation with and radiation control in the city of Riyadh.

It comes under the slogan "Nuclear and radiation emergencies… Building the future in a developed world"It lasts for four days, with the participation of international and national bodies, experts and specialists representing more than (100) countries around the world.

The conference includes more than (120) scientific papers, (100) posters, and expanded dialogue sessions in which more than 700 specialists and experts from more than (100) countries and more than (6) international organizations participate, to review best practices and ways to enhance the level of Preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies.

In addition to an accompanying exhibition in which national and international bodies participate, displaying their expertise and experiences in preparing for and responding to nuclear and radiological emergencies, and international companies displaying their technical products that help in effectively responding to nuclear and radiological emergencies.

The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority confirmed at the opening ceremony that the concept of emergency preparedness is constantly evolving to be in line with new developments and realities, applying modern technologies and enhancing integration between national agencies.

It indicated that preparedness consists of a system that everyone, including governments, experts, and societies, participates in building through extended efforts based on proactiveness, effective communication, and taking appropriate measures at the right time.

During the conference, the International Atomic Energy Agency highlighted the importance of building sustainable national capabilities in the field of emergency preparedness, strengthening response systems at the national and international levels, in addition to supporting the exchange of information between countries. And expanding the scope of technical cooperation in a way that contributes to increasing the efficiency of managing nuclear and radiological emergencies and reducing their effects.

She stressed the important role of the international instruments sponsored by the Agency, to which the Kingdom is a party, and considering developing their procedures and regulatory dimensions, in addition to the international integration platforms and networks supervised by the Agency, and in which the Kingdom participates, which have an effective role in achieving advanced dimensions in responding to nuclear emergencies.

A global event in Riyadh

It represents This conference is a global event, being the first of its kind organized outside the Agency, and aims to enhance preparedness and raise capabilities in dealing with nuclear and radiological emergencies.

It provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences and discussing modern challenges and innovations in this field, in addition to reviewing mechanisms that enhance integration between national and international systems in emergency situations.

The Kingdom’s choice to host this international event reflects its advanced position in the global nuclear safety system, the development of its organizational structure, and its growing ability to support efforts.
