The University of Sharjah organizes the Second International Conference on Mathematics

Sharjah, January 17 / WAM / The University of Sharjah organized the Second Sharjah International Conference on Mathematical Sciences, over two days, with the participation of an elite group of experts, specialists and researchers from inside and outside the country. The conference discusses the latest scientific research results and research developments in the field of mathematics and its applications in various sciences, and enhances scientific cooperation between researchers and academic institutions.

The conference is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, and aims to provide a specialized scientific platform for researchers in the fields of applied mathematics, data science and machine learning, which contributes to supporting scientific research and exchanging experiences.

During the opening of the conference, His Excellency Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Rector of the University, stressed that mathematics represents the deep foundation of the era of artificial intelligence and quantum computing, which places on mathematicians a great responsibility to ensure that these technologies are used in an ethical manner that benefits humanity.

He pointed out that the University of Sharjah is proud of its role as an academic institution with a societal impact, working through its research centers and strategic partnerships to confront global challenges in the fields of artificial intelligence, sustainability and smart technologies, through multidisciplinary research that contributes to providing comprehensive and sustainable solutions. He explained that this approach contributed to the university achieving a distinguished achievement by ranking twenty-sixth in the world, fourth in the Arab world, and first in the UAE, in the Times Multidisciplinary Sciences 2026 classification.

The conference witnessed the presentation of 90 research papers with the participation of about 150 researchers from Arab and foreign countries, through parallel scientific sessions, which covered a number of specialized topics, including algebra and geometry, applied mathematics, partial differential equations, applications of statistics, and artificial intelligence, in addition to other scientific fields, in addition to the presentation of a number of scientific posters.

The conference was attended by His Excellency Dr. Muammar Battayeb, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Scientific Research and Postgraduate Studies, His Excellency Dr. Nawar Thabet, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Science, and a number of college deans, department heads, and faculty members.
