The Arab Charter Committee discusses the second periodic report of the State of Kuwait in Cairo

The sixty-sixth meeting of the Arab Charter Committee for Human Rights was concluded, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The meeting witnessed the twenty-eighth session of the Committee, which was entirely devoted to discussing the second periodic report of the State of Kuwait over two days, in order to complement the State of Kuwait’s commitment to the Arab Charter for Human Rights.
Axes of discussion and interactive dialogue The State of Kuwait presented its second periodic report To the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States in March 2025, the report dealt with the measures taken by the state to implement the rights and freedoms stipulated in the Charter since its accession, and the actions taken regarding the observations and recommendations issued by the committee following the discussion of the first periodic report.
The session’s discussions focused on the progress made by Kuwait in the field of implementing its legal obligations, and included several axes, most notably:
The right to life and physical integrity.
The right to equality and non-existence. Discrimination.
Civil and political liberties and the right to freedom of opinion and expression.
Combat slavery and trafficking in persons.
The right to health, education and family protection, especially women and children.
The session witnessed an interactive dialogue between members of the Charter Committee and the Kuwaiti delegation, which included representatives of various government agencies in the country.
It is noteworthy that the sessions of the discussion session were attended by a number of representatives of the permanent delegations to the League of Arab States and Parliament.
