The French Navy shoots marches over a military site housing nuclear submarines

The French Navy opened fire on drones that were flying over a sensitive military site that includes French nuclear submarines.
Five drones were spotted over the submarine base on Long Island, in the Brittany region in western France, which is a strategic base that includes submarines armed with ballistic missiles, which are an essential part of the French nuclear deterrent. However, the naval forces charged with protecting the base opened fire on the planes, but it was not confirmed whether the planes were shot down.
The local authorities announced that a legal investigation had begun into the incident, indicating that operations at the base were not affected. According to Politico magazine, European Union on Friday.
Drones were spotted in the same area last month, although they did not fly directly over the base. This area is among the locations that were targeted by drones even before the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
This incident comes at a time when NATO airspace is witnessing many intrusions by drones, as unmanned aircraft have been spotted flying near sensitive military sites and civilian infrastructure in several European countries in recent months, including Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
