The team’s mistakes are repeated… and 4 technical observations on the Egypt match

Athletes and technical analysts confirmed that the national team wasted a valuable opportunity to win against its Egyptian counterpart, after it appeared technically well, the day before yesterday, in the second round match of the third group competitions of the Arab Cup Championship, currently being held in Doha, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Al-Abyad was ahead by one goal until just five minutes before the end, but it retreated and almost came out as a loser in the fatal time, after the referee canceled a goal for the “Pharaohs” after returning to the “mouse” video technology.
They told Emirates Al-Youm: “The team’s chance to qualify for the quarter-finals still exists if it wins over Kuwait tomorrow, but it is weak because it also depends on the result of the Egyptian team’s match, waiting for it to lose or even draw against Jordan in the same group.”
They told “Emirates Today”: “There are four technical observations on the team’s performance, represented by its negligence in a valuable victory that was close to it as a result of the poor technical reading of the course of the match by the Romanian coach, Olario Cosmin, and his lack of timely intervention, in addition to the frequency of conceding goals in decisive minutes, as happened against Egypt in the 85th minute.” They also pointed out that “the team is missing the leading player on the field, in addition to the continuation of fatal defensive errors despite the adjustments it made.” Cosmin, especially in the defensive aspect, by keeping Kwame Koaido on the bench, and returning Sasha and Aladdin Zuhair to the starting lineup, despite the latter leaving injured in the first half.
Repetition of errors
The former national team coach and technical analyst, Dr. Abdullah Misfer, confirmed that the team, despite its technical appearance against Egypt, missed the opportunity to win. He said: “The team still suffers from the problem of repeating defensive mistakes. Despite having good offensive capabilities and scoring against competitors, defensively it always makes catastrophic mistakes.”
He added: “At a time when the national team had everything on the field and was supposed to decide the match, it conceded an equalizer to the Egyptian national team, which took advantage of a defensive error.”
Mesfer pointed out that the Egyptian team is also a strong team that has the ambition to compete, and stressed the importance of dealing well in the next match against Kuwait, tomorrow, adding: “Even if the team wins, the qualification calculations remain in the hands of others.”
He concluded: “The team could have been in a better position if it had achieved positive results against both Jordan and Egypt in the first and second rounds.”
For his part, the national coach and former international goalkeeper, Moataz Abdullah, confirmed that “Kuzmin’s technical readings have begun to change relatively, but he is still suffering from technical problems related to match management, in addition to the instability of the starting lineup and the method of replacing players.”
Moataz Abdullah evidenced this by substituting Cosmin for Yahya Al-Ghassani in the 63rd minute, despite the latter playing a major role in helping the back line, as the team conceded a fatal goal a few minutes after leaving as a result of a defensive gap that Al-Ghassani was closing.
He added: “The team was good defensively in the first half, but it made fatal mistakes in the second half after the exit of Luan Pereira and Yahya Al-Ghassani, as a result of technical misreading and unsuccessful substitutions by the coach.”
He continued: “One of the observations about Kuzmin is that, despite having the factors for his success with the national team, he always enters matches without a clear definition of his goals.”
Moataz Abdullah stressed that “the team was able to defeat the Egyptian team easily,” describing the latter as “an ordinary team that came to the tournament to try out some of its players.”
Missing a leading player
In turn, the former international player, Farouk Abdel Rahman, said: “The team is still suffering from technical problems, some of which are borne by the coach, and others by the players, in addition to repeating previous mistakes and conceding goals in the last minutes, as happened against Egypt and before that against Jordan.”
He stressed that “the team should have maintained the goal of progress by strengthening the midfield and not relying entirely on offensive changes.”
Farouk Abdul Rahman added: “The team is also missing the leader player on the field, who guides his teammates.”
