"Lomo" and"Mercedes-Benz" and"Momenta" Announces a partnership to launch a robotaxi fleet in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, 9 DECEMBER WAM / LOMO, the national Emirati company specialized in smart mobility and autonomous driving solutions, announced the launch of a luxury self-driving robotaxi fleet in Abu Dhabi in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and Momenta, a company specializing in artificial intelligence technologies for autonomous driving.
The new robotaxi fleet relies on the Level 4 “L4” autonomous driving system developed by Momenta and based on the new Mercedes-Benz “S-Class” model, providing the first scalable model of a robotaxi service built on a platform for mass production of luxury cars.
The fleet’s commercial operations are scheduled to begin in Abu Dhabi during next year 2026, with plans to expand into additional international markets in the later stages.
This strategic cooperation brings together three leading entities in the smart mobility sector, who share a unified vision for the future of transportation based on technology and innovation.
His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor to the President of the UAE for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology, and Secretary-General of the Advanced Technology Research Council, said: “The strategic cooperation between Mercedes, Momenta and Lomo embodies the highest standards of engineering and autonomous driving technologies, indicating that the gathering of these capabilities in the UAE is not a coincidence but rather a result of the country providing the ideal environment for testing, developing and reviewing the future of smart mobility, as the UAE combines clarity of vision, speed of implementation and commitment to innovation, which enhances its uniqueness and excellence in this vital field.”
For his part, Jörg Borzer, Chief Technology Officer at Mercedes-Benz AG, said: “In partnership with Momenta and Lomo, we are redefining the standards of mobility by creating a luxury robotaxi,” pointing to the commitment to combining the highest levels of safety with comfort and elegance to provide a new standard for global smart transportation.
For his part, Xudong Cao, CEO of Momenta, said: “This tripartite cooperation combines a century of Mercedes-Benz engineering experience, advanced artificial intelligence technologies from Momenta and distinguished local operational capabilities of LUMO. The robotaxi service, supported by Momenta’s R6 reinforcement learning model, is based on providing an intelligent mobility experience that combines safety and luxury quality.”
