A committee to inspect flood leaks, culverts and roads and ensure their readiness in the Red Sea

The Governor of the Red Sea, Amr Hanafi, decided to form a specialized committee, which will be in charge of passing floodwaters, culverts, and main roads in the city of Hurghada. With the aim of ensuring its readiness before the rainy season, and completing the necessary procedures to ensure the efficiency of the flood drainage system.

 

According to a press release issued by the governorate, today, Wednesday; The committee is headed by Engineer Hosni Ibrahim Abu Al-Wafa, and its membership includes Mohamed Abdel Hamid Riad, director of the National Control Center at the General Court, engineer Mahmoud Othman Ali, representative of the Roads and Bridges Authority, Haitham Mohamed Mohamed, crisis official at the Hurghada City Council, engineer Irene Sobhi Fikri, and engineer Amani Saleh Fikri from the groundwater administration in the governorate. Its field work began within the city, and as its members passed along the main roads, it became clear that the Hurghada Road – Gharib, the Outer Ring Road, and Hurghada Road – Safaga, in good condition, allowing traffic to move without obstacles.

 

The committee also monitored the presence of quantities of construction waste on both sides of the outer ring road, and they were included in the report submitted to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures.

 

 

The committee followed up on the condition of the culverts under the highways, and the report revealed that the culvert and end of the Wadi Al-Ash area are at one kilometer away. 33 north of Hurghada, a culvert and the end of the Wadi Baligh area at kilometer 26.5 north of Hurghada near the Al-Ahiya ambush, in addition to the plain Wadi Faliq culvert behind the airport and the Umm Delfa culvert in front of the security teams on the outer ring road, all of which are in good condition and performing their role in draining rainwater and torrential rains.

 

The committee’s work included passing through valleys, culverts, artificial lakes and aggregate dams, and it was found that The readiness of all the sites that were inspected.

 

 The tour included the Abu Malka Wadi Lake and Dam behind the Jatropha farms, the Wadi Faliq Al-Waar Lake and Dam behind the Al-Najda and Al-Harafiyin areas, and the Wadi Faliq Al-Sahl Lake and Dam behind the airport and Magawish, in addition to Umm Delfa Lake behind the safari stations and security teams.

 

The Red Sea Governor confirmed that The committee’s work comes within a comprehensive plan to raise the governorate’s readiness for the rainy season, with continued field follow-up and intensified efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and facilities and activate the efficient flood drainage system in various regions.
