"Dubai Culture" She wins an Arab award of appreciation for her efforts in preserving cultural heritage


Dubai, 12 December / WAM / The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority crowned the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists with the Appreciation Award allocated to bodies and institutions concerned with the fields of antiquities and cultural cultural heritage, in recognition of their distinguished efforts in preserving cultural heritage in line with their cultural responsibilities and sectoral priorities aimed at preserving local heritage and ensuring its transfer to future generations.
The honor came during the Authority’s participation in the 28th edition of the Arab Archaeologists’ Conference, which was organized by the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. This award represents the result of the efforts of the Authority’s work teams in implementing survey and excavation projects in a number of Dubai’s archaeological sites, including Saruq Al Hadid, Jumeirah, Al Sufouh, and Al Qusais, in addition to the Hatta archaeological sites.
The efforts contributed to the discovery of more than twenty-five thousand archaeological pieces, in addition to the restoration of monuments, archaeological buildings and discovered collectibles, in addition to the Authority’s contributions to the preparation and publication of studies, research and scientific articles specialized in various fields of archaeology.
During its participation in the conference, the Dubai Culture delegation presented three working papers that dealt with the results of the project to restore and maintain artifacts discovered at Dubai’s archaeological sites and the significance of the ancient Egyptian seals discovered at the Saruq Al-Hadid site as evidence of cultural communication during the first millennium BC, in addition to a historical and archaeological study about Dubai during the late Islamic era in light of recent discoveries at the Suhaila archaeological site in Hatta.
Engineer Badr Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Department of Antiquities at Dubai Culture, confirmed that the Authority’s receipt of the award reflects its distinction and commitment to adopting innovative solutions that contribute to preserving the local cultural heritage. He pointed out that this achievement is added to the Authority’s long record and highlights its capabilities in preserving Dubai’s archaeological sites and the qualitative discoveries it is witnessing that confirm the emirate’s possession of ancient cultural roots extending for more than one hundred and twenty thousand years, from the lower Paleolithic era to the late Islamic eras.
