The European Union approves customs duties on small parcels coming from outside the Union

European Union Finance Ministers agreed today to impose a customs duty of (3) euros on all small parcels coming from outside the Union, as of July 1, 2026, against companies such as Shein, Timo and Ali Express.

 

 

 

A European Union spokesman said: “This fixed duty will remain in effect until a solution is reached.” A permanent solution regarding the fees that should be imposed on these imports,” noting that the implementation mechanism begins as of (1) July 2026.

 

 

 

 

For its part, Italy announced that it will begin implementing as of January 1, 2026, imposing a fee of (2) euros on each of these small parcels sent. From outside Europe.

 

 

 

This measure comes a month after the Union agreed to cancel the customs exemption for packages worth less than (150) euros that consumers buy directly.
