The Jerusalem Governorate warns of a colonial plan to separate the north of the city

The Jerusalem Governorate warned of a dangerous colonial plan pushed by the Israeli occupation authorities to establish a huge colony on the lands of Jerusalem International Airport, north of occupied Jerusalem, considering that it constitutes a dangerous escalation of the colonial policy, and directly aims to separate northern Jerusalem from its Palestinian extension.
The governorate said, in a statement issued today, Monday, and reported by the Palestinian news agency “Wafa”, that the plan strikes the Palestinian geographical and demographic connection between Jerusalem and Ramallah, in an attempt to To impose new colonial realities that undermine any political horizon based on the two-state solution, and prevent the development of East Jerusalem as an urban and political center for the Palestinian state.
She explained that the colonial plan aims to establish about 9,000 colonial units in the heart of a dense Palestinian urban space, which includes Kafr Aqab, Qalandia, Al-Ram, Beit Hanina, and Bir Nabala, which constitutes a direct threat to the integrated Palestinian urban space north of Jerusalem, and deepens the imposed policy of separation and isolation. On the city and its surroundings.
The Jerusalem Governorate indicated that the so-called “Israeli District Planning and Building Committee” It intends to hold a session the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss the push for Plan No. 101-0764936, and the session may witness the approval of the basic principles of the plan, including the allocation of commercial and public spaces, despite the failure of previous attempts in 2021 as a result of official objections from the Israeli Ministries of Environmental Protection and Health, in addition to the previous freezing of the plan during the term of US President Barack Obama.
In this context, she indicated that the Israeli Ministry of Finance requested during December 2025 The Knesset Finance Committee approves the transfer of 16 million shekels (one dollar is equivalent to 3.21 shekels). To the Ministry of Environmental Protection, under the pretext of “rehabilitating polluted lands,” including Jerusalem International Airport, in a step aimed practically at removing what it described as artificial environmental obstacles, and accelerating the implementation of the colonial project.
The governorate added that the majority of the planned lands are classified as “state lands.” Since the period of the British Mandate, despite the presence of large areas of Palestinian private land, the occupation intends to subject them to forced unification and division procedures without the consent of their owners, in clear violation of private property rights.
