The Spanish Football League (LaLiga) announced on Wednesday that it had submitted the economic and financial report for Spanish professional football for the 2024/2025 season, and said in a statement that the report “reflects a new cycle of sustainable growth, characterized by historic record levels in revenues, spectator attendance at stadiums and investment, as well as the consolidation of the financial solvency model that is considered a standard at the international level.”
Total adjusted revenues amounted to 5 billion and 464 million euros, recording an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous season. Thus, the competition achieved a new record in adjusted gross revenues, mainly driven by strong commercial activity and the full recovery of activity in most stadiums.
The report also confirmed that commercial revenues exceeded 1 billion euros for the third year in a row, reaching historical figures and exceeding 1.5 billion euros this season, thanks to international expansion and new monetization strategies, with positive growth expectations for the 2025/2026 season driven by the maturity of this commercial expansion and the upward trend in fan attendance at the stadium.
The report also stated that one of the most notable achievements of that season was setting a record for crowd attendance, as the number of spectators exceeded 17 million for the first time.
This growth coincides with an improvement in occupancy rates, reaching 84.5% in the Spanish first division (LaLiga EA Sports), and 68.5% in the Spanish second division (LaLiga Hypermotion).
Investment remains one of the strategic pillars of growth, as LaLiga clubs are witnessing a historic phase in terms of investment intensity, specifically in infrastructure and stadium modernization, which increased by 12% compared to the previous season. This effort would enhance revenue generating capacity in both the medium and long term.
In terms of operational efficiency, the clubs continue to move towards a sustainable model, where team costs are controlled in accordance with UEFA standards, not exceeding 70%.
Financially, LaLiga has a strong financial and capital position, with high net equity and an increasingly diversified and efficient financing structure. The development of long-term financing projects linked to infrastructure enhances the sustainability of this model.
In addition, the sporting model continues to differentiate itself through its commitment to talent, having the highest market value of academy players among the top five European leagues, and the highest academy player participation rate among those leagues, reflecting a strategy focused on player training and retention.
Looking to the 2025/2026 season, expectations indicate further revenue growth and improved operating margins, with the aim of achieving the economic break-even point within the framework of economic control.
With these results, LaLiga confirms its position as one of the most solid and dynamic competitions in world football, combining economic growth, financial sustainability and innovation in its management model, in line with the trend already established in previous seasons.
