"Emirates Nuclear Energy" You get an award "Platts Global Energy Excellence"

Abu Dhabi, 19 December / WAM / Emirates Nuclear Energy Company received the “Excellence in Energy” award at the “Platts World Energy Awards 2025”, which was hosted by the international company “Standard & Poor” in New York. This is the first time that this award has been granted to a nuclear energy company in about a decade and comes in honor of the distinguished achievements and leadership role of the company in the global energy sector, while this achievement highlights the importance of nuclear energy to countries of the world, in their quest to provide reliable and sustainable electricity.
The company was honored with this award for its success in developing and operating the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plants, the first multi-station peaceful nuclear energy project in the operating phase, and the largest single source of clean electricity in the United Arab Emirates and the region in general. This award highlights the status of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plants as a global model for clean energy projects, with regard to the completion of a huge peaceful nuclear energy project in a safe and efficient manner, on schedule, and in accordance with the highest international standards, in addition to achieving sustainable local and international returns.
Emirates Nuclear Energy Company’s win of this award reinforces the leadership position of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in the global energy sector, as the country has become a role model for best practices in the peaceful nuclear energy sector. It also highlights the growth of the region and its endeavor to become a major energy producer to meet the great demand from the artificial intelligence and technology sectors, in addition to heavy industries searching for clean and reliable energy sources.
This award is selected by an independent panel of international energy experts and is open to all projects within all energy production technologies, in highly competitive areas including renewables, conventional energy and advanced grid solutions.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and CEO of Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and its group of companies, said that Emirates Nuclear Energy Company’s receipt of this award confirms its pioneering role in supporting the global process of transition to clean energy sources. This was achieved thanks to the thoughtful vision and firm support of the wise leadership during the development of the Barakah plants, which brought together Emirati competencies and expertise alongside international experts, to produce abundant electricity free of carbon emissions.
Al Hammadi added that the Barakah plants played a pioneering role in the region’s journey to transition to clean energy sources, in addition to providing clean and reliable electricity to society, industrial sectors, and the growing digital infrastructure. We are now working to share our model in developing peaceful nuclear energy projects with other countries and international companies, in order to accelerate the development and deployment of nuclear energy in a timely manner at the global level.
The Platts Global Energy Awards, which have been honoring achievements in this sector for nearly three decades, highlight companies and organizations that achieve real-world impact results through their work. This award of excellence places Emirates Nuclear Energy Company among a distinguished group of global energy companies recognized for its contributions. The award also highlights the local and global impact of the Barakah plants, which were completed on time and within budget, becoming one of the most efficient new nuclear power programs in the world, as the plants provide stable base load power to the UAE.
With its first global recognition at the Platts Awards, this honor represents an important step for Emirates Nuclear Energy Company, as it now exports its expertise and expands its international cooperation, to accelerate the development and deployment of nuclear energy around the world in a safe and efficient manner.
