Liverpool is concerned about “breaking the leg” of the most expensive player in the history of the English Premier League

Champions League champion Liverpool is awaiting the results of tests that it fears will confirm that its Swedish striker, Alexander Isak, suffered a broken leg during the victory over Tottenham in the English Premier League, according to reports on Monday.
The Swedish striker – who arrived to the Reds in a deal that is the most expensive in the history of the English Premier League (144 million euros) – was injured while scoring the opening goal for his team (2-1) on Saturday in London following an intervention by Tottenham defender, the Dutchman Micky van der Veen.
Isaac (26 years old), who entered the second half as a substitute, was unable to celebrate with his teammates and left the field in clear discomfort.
Liverpool’s Dutch coach, Arne Slot, admitted that the injury “does not look like a good thing.”
“If the player doesn’t even try to come back, it’s usually not a good thing, but I can’t say more than that,” he explained.
He added, “This is just an internal feeling and not a medical thing… Let’s be less negative at the moment. We don’t know yet. We hope he will be back with us soon.”
Reports issued by “The Athletic” and “Sky Sports” on Monday stated that Liverpool feared that Isaac had suffered a broken leg, which would mean he would be absent for a long period.
Isaac has had a slow start at Anfield, scoring three goals in 16 appearances since his move from Newcastle for a British record $168 million on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The Swedish striker’s injury represents an additional setback for Slot, given that his star striker, Mohamed Salah, is busy participating with the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations, and the Dutchman, Cody Khakpo, is not ready until the beginning of the new year due to a muscle injury.
Slot has two options left in attack: Frenchman Ugo Equitique, who has scored five goals in the last four matches, and Italian Federico Chiesa, who has little participation.
Liverpool currently occupies fifth place in the Premier League standings after a five-match unbeaten streak.
