The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace calls for a balanced Arab discourse that protects identity
Cairo, December 25 / WAM / His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressed that the issue of the image of Arabs in the world touches the essence of Arab identity and civilizational responsibility and is not considered an intellectual luxury, stressing the importance of fortifying the Arab interior culturally and intellectually, especially among the youth, against the dangers of misleading discourse by building critical awareness and enhancing confidence in Arab identity.
This came during his participation in the Arab Intellectual Conference held today at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, organized by the Arab Organization for Dialogue and International Cooperation, under the slogan “The Image of the Arabs and the Dialogue of Cultures – Future Visions.”
Al-Jarwan called for building a balanced Arab discourse that protects Arab identity and enhances its positive presence on the international scene, based on a culture of moderation and common human values, far from stereotypes, stressing that positivity is rooted in the Arab religious and cultural heritage.
He also called for activating the role of reliable Arab civil society organizations, strengthening the institutional partnership with the League of Arab States, and investing in cultural awareness for future generations.
He stressed that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace was and remains an active partner in the paths of civilizational dialogue, pointing to the Council’s participation, commissioned by the League of Arab States, in the Dialogue of Civilizations project in cooperation with the United Nations, which was officially adopted within an open Arab vision that believes in dialogue and rejects clashes.
In this regard, he praised the pivotal role played by the League of Arab States as the unifying framework for joint Arab action, appreciating the efforts led by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in consolidating the approach of dialogue, balance, and defending Arab issues in regional and international forums.
