“Life Endowment” allocates immediate support to cover the needs of 140 patients

The Endowments and Minors’ Funds Management Authority (Abu Dhabi Endowments) announced yesterday the start of allocating immediate support to cover the needs of 140 patients from the most needy groups, as part of the “Stop Life” campaign, which it launched in cooperation with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.

The campaign was able to raise nearly 900 million dirhams in less than one month, exceeding its original five-year target, thanks to the support of more than 200,000 donors who believed in its humanitarian message.

This step represents an important transition from collecting contributions to the stage of achieving tangible impact, as Abu Dhabi Endowments begins using the first returns generated from endowment investments, in addition to financial donations, to provide direct support for medical cases of the highest priority.

The campaign embodies a strategic financial model based on investing charitable capital to generate sustainable income flows that continuously serve the community. The endowment proceeds will be used to cover the costs of treating chronic diseases and strengthening the health infrastructure, while reinvesting the capital to increase the volume of returns and enhance financial flexibility in the long term.

The campaign also dedicates its support to the most needy groups in society, including individuals suffering from chronic diseases and people of determination, to ensure that health care reaches those who need it immediately and continuously, thus enhancing the ability of the health system in Abu Dhabi to meet the needs of society.

The “Endowment of Life” company, which was recently established by “Abu Dhabi Endowments”, is responsible for managing the development of endowment assets and supervising the directing of investment returns towards approved health care priorities, ensuring sustainable support for health care services provided to the most needy patients. The company also adopts a precise governance system that ensures that funding decisions are based on clear criteria based on patients’ needs and long-term social impact goals.

The Director General of Abu Dhabi Endowments, Fahd Abdul Qadir Al Qasim, said: “We have begun directing the first proceeds from the endowment assets, based on clear priorities and accurate data, to support the most needy medical cases, and the number at this stage amounts to 140 patients. This is the essence of the endowment in its modern form: a financial instrument that generates sustainable resources and directly improves people’s lives.”

He stressed that the success of the campaign represents an important shift in the concept of modern endowments based on sustainability, explaining that the “Life Endowment” established a portfolio of diverse and innovative endowment projects in partnership with leading national institutions, and according to a financial approach that focuses on developing returns and ensuring their long-term continuity.

The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi supervises the methodology for identifying eligible medical cases through a mechanism that enables health facilities to communicate directly with the department regarding patients who need support in covering their treatment. The mechanism is based on specific and precise standards that are in line with best practices, and takes into account the medical condition and fairness in providing support, as the specialized team in the department studies the requests received from health facilities, and determines the cases deserving of support.

This data-driven approach embodies a strategic integration between health policies and philanthropic capital, establishing an innovative and pioneering model for directing endowment returns that ensures immediate relief for patients and long-term sustainability.
