Several strong explosions sounded in the city of KyivSaturday, at a time when the authorities warned that the Ukrainian capital was threatened by a missile attack.

The Ukrainian Air Force declared a nationwide air alert in the early hours of Saturday morning, indicating on social media that drones were flying over several Ukrainian regions, including the capital.

Several strong explosions were heard, accompanied by a bright flash that lit up the horizon in orange.

After about three hours had passed, The Regional Military Administrationin Kiev said that air defenses were activated due to the approach of a drone.

This comes at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to leave for the United States to discuss a revised plan to end the war with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday.

More than four years after the Russian invasion, the pace of talks has accelerated in recent weeks with the aim of finding a solution to the conflict based on a plan drawn up by Trump.
