Dubai Electricity and Water Authority will launch 8 major transmission stations during 2025

Dubai, December 28 / WAM / Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has inaugurated eight major transmission stations during the current year 2025, in addition to extending 250 km of underground cables and overhead transmission lines, at a total cost exceeding 1.35 billion dirhams, in the areas of Al Warsan-4, Al Yalayis-5, Hatta, Saih Shuaib-3, Al Habiyah-5, and Jebel Ali First.
Five projects have also been implemented to establish major 132 kilovolt transmission stations to supply new citizen housing areas, such as Latifa City, Al Awir First, and Al Khawaneej Second, in addition to other areas including Satwa and Zabeel Second, at a total cost of up to 560 million dirhams.
Thus, the number of major 132-kilovolt transmission station projects that began work during the year 2025 increases to 22 stations, while the Authority plans to establish more than 78 132-kilovolt stations during the next three years, as part of its approved development plans.
This step comes in line with the authority’s strategy aimed at enhancing the capacity of the transport network and raising its efficiency and reliability, especially in light of the continued urban and economic expansion in the emirate. The new stations represent an important addition to the current electricity transmission network, which includes 394 stations by the end of the third quarter of 2025, including 27 stations with a voltage of 400 kilovolts and 367 stations with a voltage of 132 kilovolts.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said that within the framework of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to provide advanced and integrated infrastructure in Dubai, the Authority is working to provide electricity and water services according to the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency, to meet the growing demand for these services and keep pace with the requirements of sustainable development in the emirate, noting that the total value of electricity transmission network projects under construction exceeds 8.5 billion dirhams.
He added that the reliability and availability of transmission lines in the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority reaches about 100%, and the work in the new projects includes constructing stations and extending the necessary underground cables to connect them to the main network, using the latest digital technologies and smart systems approved globally in the energy transmission sector, ensuring the highest levels of safety and operational reliability.
He pointed out that these projects complement the infrastructure of the electricity transmission network, which includes the implementation of 53 stations with a voltage of 132 kilovolts, in addition to underground transmission cables with a voltage of 132 kilovolts with a length of 226 kilometers, and two stations with a voltage of 400 kilovolts, in addition to 130 kilometers of overhead transmission lines with a voltage of 400 kilovolts, and they are expected to be completed by 2028.
