China operates 61.87 billion passenger flights in 11 months

BEIJING, December 28, 2025 – The Chinese Ministry of Transport announced that 61.87 billion passenger trips were recorded across regional areas during the first 11 months of 2025, an increase of 3.6 percent year-on-year.
Xinhua News Agency quoted the ministry as saying that the total investment in fixed assets in the transportation sector amounted to 3.27 trillion yuan (about 464.5 billion dollars) during the first 11 months of this year.
The ministry stated that the volume of operational shipping in the country reached 53.54 billion tons, an increase of 3.5 percent compared to last year.
The volume of freight on highways increased by 3.6 percent year-on-year to 39.49 billion tons, while the volume of freight through waterways increased by 3.5 percent year-on-year to 9.21 billion tons.
Regarding container traffic in Chinese ports, the volume of cargo handling grew between January and November by 4.4 percent on an annual basis, reaching 16.75 billion tons.
Among the total volume, the cargo handling volume for domestic and foreign trade grew respectively by 4.5 percent and 4.1 percent.
