Trump praises phone call with Putin ahead of Zelensky’s talks, describing it as “fruitful”

US President Donald Trump said that he had a “very productive” phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, ahead of his expected hosting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida to discuss the Ukraine issue.

The US President told Politico on Friday that his Ukrainian counterpart, who arrives bringing with him his latest proposals on the thorny issue of territorial sharing, “doesn’t have anything until I agree to it.”

However, Donald Trump seemed confident in the results of the talks, saying, “I think things will go well with him. I think they will go well with Putin.”
