Thousands of customers were affected by the largest robbery in Germany

Security sources and investigators in Germany announced that thieves seized an amount amounting to about 30 million euros ($35.2 million), after they stole about 3,200 safety deposit boxes in the treasury of a savings bank in the city of Gelsenkirchen, western Germany.
The sources said on Tuesday that there were more than 2,500 customers affected by the robberies, which could make it one of the largest bank robberies in modern German history.
The robbery was discovered at dawn on Monday, after a fire alarm went off.
On Tuesday, about 200 anxious bank customers gathered in front of the branch to inquire about their valuables, and some of them attempted to storm the bank, prompting the police to announce the closure of the branch.
