America imposes sanctions on 10 people and companies from Iran and Venezuela

The United States has imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and companies from Iran and Venezuela on charges of contributing to Iran’s drone trade and its ballistic missile program, which the Trump administration views as a threat to the United States and its allies in the Middle East.

The US Treasury Department said that these latest measures aim to support the UN sanctions re-imposed on Iran over its nuclear program, increasing pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has long insisted that its nuclear program is peaceful.

Tuesday’s sanctions include a Venezuelan company and its board of directors, who are accused of purchasing Iranian drones; Three Iranian men linked to efforts to obtain chemicals used in the manufacture of ballistic missiles; And a group of individuals and companies located in Iran.

In February, President Donald Trump reimposed a “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran in an attempt to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons.

This campaign included US-led air strikes on three vital uranium enrichment sites in Iran last summer.
A week after the open confrontation between Israel and Iran, which broke out following a series of surprise Israeli attacks on the Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure.

Trump warned Iran yesterday that the United States may launch more military strikes if it tries to rebuild its nuclear program, during his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida.
