The conclusion of the “Year of Community” and its initiatives establish a model of cohesion, diversity and inclusion

The UAE concluded the “Year of Community,” which witnessed, throughout the year 2025, a group of national initiatives and innovative events that embodied the vision of the wise leadership towards building a cohesive and prosperous society.

The year 2025 was declared the Year of Society under the slogan “Hand in Hand,” emphasizing the commitment of the country’s wise leadership to empower society, strengthen its unity, and make it a comprehensive society. The year embodied a national vision that aimed to strengthen social ties and establish a culture of shared responsibility between individuals and institutions.

Rawda Al Falasi, Director of the Year of Society Project, said that UAE society is distinguished by the diversity of its individuals, their backgrounds, cultures and life paths, and that this diversity has enriched the interaction between them during this year, pointing out that teamwork and working hand in hand have contributed to the growth of society, and every partnership and cooperation has also reflected the story of an interconnected society that always pushes the wheel of progress forward.

The Year of Community established a sustainable approach to community work through various initiatives that achieved remarkable success and witnessed broad participation from community members.

The Year of Society translated the slogan “Hand in Hand” into realistic initiatives and stories that reflected the values of giving and togetherness, and through the invitation “Who is the (B) in your life?”, the public was given the opportunity to honor every giving hand that made a difference in its surroundings, so that personal experiences were transformed into inspiring tales of support and joint work.

The invitation’s symbolism was inspired by the letter Ba (B), as a symbol of solidarity and unity, and it witnessed posts that expressed gratitude to the people who stand in the background of the scene and make a sincere impact on the lives of those around them.

To celebrate shared memories and details of daily life, the “We Document” initiative formed a growing visual archive that collected images and moments from the emirates of the country, reflecting the beauty of neighborhoods, the warmth of meetings, and the diversity of human experiences that create the spirit of society in the Emirates.

The values of the Year of Community were also demonstrated through collective creativity and local partnerships, as local creators contributed to presenting artistic and cultural works inspired by memory and identity, including the development of the Emirati Christmas song, and the production of sustainable publications and products that express the stories and feelings that make up community life.

The impact of the Year of Community extended to emerging generations through “Emirates Craft: Community Edition,” an educational experience that combined play and learning, and enhanced the values of belonging and cooperation by exploring Emirati environments inspired by heritage and nature.

At the institutional impact level, the community impact measurement platform allowed entities to register and document their initiatives and measure their results, as more than 350 community initiatives were registered from the emirates of the country, reflecting the diversity of areas of participation and joint work.

With the conclusion of the Year of Community, the impact of what was built hand in hand is evident in a society that celebrates its diversity and invests in its individuals, where unity, growth and giving are embodied as continuous paths that are renewed through partnerships, stories and initiatives, and whose effects extend into the future.

Over the past decade, the annual UAE Years Initiative has contributed to consolidating national values, encouraging active participation, and enhancing the sense of shared responsibility, stressing that belonging is an act that is built, shared, and renewed through societal practices and actions.
