Dubai Roads completes 60% of the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Street development project

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai announced that 60% of the total development project for Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets has been completed, within the Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development Project, which contributes to connecting Al Asayel Street with Al Khail Street, passing through Al Wasl Club Street, while providing an exit leading to Oud Metha Street and Al Wasl Club Street. It includes the development of four main intersections, including the implementation of 4,300-meter-long bridges and 14-kilometre-long roads. The project serves more than 420 roads. One thousand people in 2030.
The company executing the project has completed 70% of the bridge works that serve traffic coming from Al Asayel Street to Al Khail Street in the north towards the commercial crossing, and the work is being completed in preparation for its opening in the first quarter of this year. It has also completed approximately 60% of the construction work for the tunnel that serves traffic coming from Dubai Al Ain Road towards Al Wasl Club Street, and the expansions of other roads and bridges are being completed, which are expected to open in the third quarter of this year.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said that the project comes in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership to complete the development of Sheikh Rashid Corridor, to accommodate the needs of urban development and population growth. It is considered one of the most important infrastructure development projects for the road network, and includes the development of four major intersections, including the implementation of bridges with a length of 4,300 meters, and roads with a length of 14 kilometers, and serves a number of service, residential and development areas, the most important of which are Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Metha and Umm Al Tayer. Harair, Latifa Hospital, and Al Wasl Club, noting that the project contributes to increasing the capacity of Oud Metha Street from 10,400 vehicles per hour in both directions, to 15,600 vehicles per hour in both directions, with an increase of up to 50%. It also contributes to reducing the travel time from 20 minutes to 5 minutes, with an improvement rate of 75%.
