New warning: The climate crisis is approaching the point of no return

An editorial in the British newspaper The Guardian, about adapting to the climate crisis, stressed the importance of political transparency regarding the extreme weather phenomena that the world has witnessed during the recent period.
The article explicitly emphasizes the urgent need to adapt to climate change, but it reminds us of a disturbing truth that requires frank confrontation, which is that the Earth will continue to exist in the long term, but humans, along with a huge number of other living creatures, whether terrestrial or marine, may not have the same fate, and their future may be very dark if we do not take urgent action.
As the world approaches the climate tipping point in a new warning of the worsening crisis, the climate is turning from a mere challenge that can be controlled into a hostile environment, where survival will be difficult for many, while the planet itself will adapt to these changes, but the most important question remains: Will we humans be able to adapt in the same way?
Ethical issue
The current crisis is not just a technical or financial issue, but rather a moral issue par excellence, linked to our deep human values. The world today can be divided into three main groups: the first is those in need who are suffering greatly as a result of climate change, and are losing their homes and livelihoods due to hurricanes, floods and heat waves, the second is those who are led by greed, and care only about their economic interests, at the expense of others and the future of the Earth, relying on postponement and denial, and the third is those who claim to care, but hide behind a chain of Lots of excuses, to avoid facing the truth, all while the time clock continues to run endlessly.
The severity of the injustice increases when poor countries, which have contributed to a small degree to the climate crisis, are asked to pay the highest price for its consequences, while rich countries argue over costs and political interests, and lives continue to be lost and homes destroyed. This is not only a political failure, but rather a clear injustice that requires a radical confrontation.
Financing adaptation to climate change is not charity, and reducing emissions is not an option, but an urgent necessity. Honesty, courage, and compassion are tools for survival today, and any failure to do so is a betrayal of future generations.
A clear contradiction
British climate researcher, Keith Nicholls, says that many leaders usually wonder about possible ways to reduce life-threatening risks due to violent climate phenomena, in addition to the slow and continuous changes that constitute a constant concern for climate adaptation experts. These storms are also accompanied by a rise in sea levels, which threatens coastal infrastructure, and raises serious questions about the feasibility of building new power plants in vulnerable areas, such as the North Sea coast in Suffolk, and the Somerset marshes in the United Kingdom.
For example, the United Kingdom’s two most recent nuclear plants have been built: the first at Hinckley Sea, in an area that witnessed the largest flood in the country’s history in 1607, and the second at Sizewell Sea, where huge sea walls are being built to protect the station from potential floods similar to Fukushima in Japan. Nuclear power supporters argue that these plants are necessary to combat climate change, but this poses a clear contradiction between environmental protection and dangerous climate reality.
Media campaign
For his part, Dr. David Lowry, a researcher at the Institute for Resources and Security Studies in Britain, says that many people live their daily lives in complete denial of climate change, while the world is changing around them, and there is an urgent need for strong political leadership, but most voters are unaware of the impact of their excessive consumerist lifestyle in the future.
In the context of confronting this reality, legal media methods similar to those used in anti-smoking campaigns can be used, such as replacing gas station brands with reliable scientific information and images showing the effects of recent climate disasters on humans and the environment.
There must be a comprehensive government media campaign that highlights the real risks of our current path, with the aim of garnering the necessary support to make the changes that ensure a livable planet for future generations. About the Guardian
• Many live their daily lives in complete denial of climate change, while the world is changing around them.
• The current climate crisis is not just a technical or financial issue, but rather an ethical issue par excellence, linked to human values.
