It was held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, over a period of five days with the participation of an elite group of specialists and workers in the fields of rehabilitation and integration from member states, and in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence of the Republic of Kenya, Brigadier General Juul Karimi.
Islamic Alliance Programs
The program aimed to build the professional and cognitive capabilities of those in charge of rehabilitation and integration programs, and to enhance their understanding of the scientific foundations and applied methodologies for dealing with issues of extremism and terrorist behavior, according to intellectual approaches. And integrated psychological and social, in a way that contributes to supporting national security and societal stability in member states.
The course work included six main topics, including: concepts of rehabilitation and integration, the model framework for rehabilitation programs, and the foundations of designing rehabilitation and integration programs.
In addition to understanding the nature of the crime of terrorism, the scientific basis for rehabilitation and integration, and finally the challenges of formulating rehabilitation and integration programmes. The program included interactive discussion sessions, practical applications, and a pre- and post-evaluation to measure the cognitive and professional impact of the participants.
The program was implemented by a group of experts and specialists in the fields of psychology, sociology, combating extremism, and rehabilitation, namely: the expert in clinical, social, and criminal psychology, Dr. Nasser Al-Arifi, the specialist in issues of intellectual extremism, Dr. Abdul Rahman Asiri, the director of the Intellectual Department of the Islamic Alliance, and a researcher and expert in combating extremism. Extremism and terrorism, Dr. Mansour bin Saeed Al-Qarni, and the scientific supervisor of the program, who specializes in combating terrorism and intellectual extremism, Dr. Yahya Abu Mughayd.
Rehabilitation and integration programs
The program concluded with the delivery of certificates of participation to the trainees, and emphasizing the importance of sustaining the exchange of experiences and activating the knowledge and skills the participants have acquired in their national work environments, in a way that enhances the efficiency of rehabilitation and integration programs in member states.
The implementation of the program to enhance the capabilities of specialists in rehabilitation and social integration (Integration) comes within the efforts of the Islamic Military Coalition to Combat Terrorism aimed at addressing the roots of extremism.
In addition to building comprehensive approaches that balance security requirements and intellectual and social considerations, in a way that contributes to achieving regional and international security and peace.
