Israeli raids on southern Lebanon after eviction warnings

On Wednesday, the Israeli army launched raids on buildings in several towns in southern Lebanon, following warnings to residents to evacuate, hours after it launched strikes that killed two people, in an escalation that the Lebanese army denounced and said was hampering its efforts to disarm Hezbollah.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also denounced the Israeli raids as a “dangerous escalation that directly affects civilians,” considering them a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
The official National News Agency reported Israeli raids on buildings in the towns of Jarjou, Qanarit, Al-Kafour, Ansar, and Al-Kharayeb, after Israeli warnings.
For its part, the Israeli army announced that it attacked Hezbollah targets “in response to repeated violations of the ceasefire understandings.”
The five towns are located north of the Litani River, far from the border with Israel, and it is an area from which the Lebanese army intends next month to submit a plan to the government regarding the mechanism for disarming Hezbollah, after announcing the disarmament of the party in the border area south of the river.
