Latifa bint Mohammed meets with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, met with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Matthias Cormann, on the sidelines of the 56th session of the World Economic Forum held in the Swiss city of Davos.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, and the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, along with a number of senior officials from both sides.

During the meeting, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the importance of the role played by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in supporting public policies, promoting comprehensive and sustainable development, and developing economic and institutional frameworks, noting the great compatibility between the axes of the organization’s work and the vision of the UAE in the areas of development, capacity building, improving the quality of government policies, enhancing the competitiveness of economies, and the country’s keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in these areas.

Her Highness noted the great role that the UAE plays in developing government work models, enhancing the efficiency of public policies, and benefiting from pioneering international experiences, which contribute to achieving sustainable development, raising the quality of life, and consolidating economic and social stability.

The meeting discussed a set of common development topics, including developing policies, enhancing good governance, supporting innovation, and building flexible economies capable of adapting to global changes, in addition to the importance of data and analysis in supporting decision-making, and exchanging best international practices in the fields of strategic planning and sustainable development.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, also met with the Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Alexander De Croo.

During the meeting, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to supporting sustainable development efforts at the regional and global levels, and strengthening partnerships with international organizations, most notably the United Nations Development Programme, in a way that contributes to achieving common development goals and supports the building of more resilient and inclusive societies capable of facing future challenges.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, and the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, along with a number of senior officials from both sides.

The meeting discussed a set of development topics of common interest, including supporting comprehensive and sustainable development paths, promoting innovation in development policies, developing government work models, and building flexible economies capable of adapting to economic and social changes, in addition to the role of culture and knowledge in supporting long-term development.

The meeting also discussed the importance of regional and international coordination during the current stage in light of the complex global challenges, emphasizing that joint action and multilateral cooperation constitute an essential foundation for achieving sustainable development, enhancing stability, and improving the quality of life for societies.
