The evening, which comes within the program “Nights of Poetry: Voices That People Loved,” and in which the poet and heritage researcher Ali Al-Kindi Al-Marar, the singer Qusay Al-Maamari, and the percussion artist Abdullah Abdul Karim participated, recalled the features of the lives of the poets Omair and Muhammad Al-Hamli, who are among the most prominent voices of Al-Dhafra and Liwa, who left generations a great poetic legacy.

The evening discussed their works and their impact on Emirati folk poetry, especially the poems that were passed down by storytellers and chanted by singers in gatherings, and which became part of the vocal memory of the desert.

The evening began with a talk by researcher Ali Al-Kindi Al-Marar, who touched on the biography of the two poets, their poetry, and the nature of their lives.

The poet and researcher Al-Marar delved into the analysis of the poems of the brothers Muhammad and Umair, which he described as “a documentation of the nature of life in the era in which they lived, which is the life of nomadism, where they describe movement and travel in their poems. It also included narrations of many of the situations and problems that people faced in their daily lives.”

Al-Marar recited a collection of the brothers’ most famous poems immortalized in history and folklore, then he followed it with a collection of the brothers’ most famous poems filled with beautiful poetic images, while the artist Qusai Al-Maamari excelled in composing and singing a number of the brothers’ most famous poems in a heritage evening that won the approval of the audience from fans of Emirati folk poetry.
