The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation launches the 2026 season with a strategic plan that enhances international leadership and excellence

ABU DHABI, 22nd JANUARY / WAM / The Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation held its first meeting for the year 2026 with its new formation, headed by His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al-Sayyid Muhammad Al-Hashimi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and in the presence of His Excellency Muhammad Salem Muhammad Al-Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, and members His Excellency Muhammad Humaid bin Dalmuj Al-Dhaheri, His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran, His Excellency Mansour Muhammad Al-Dhaheri, and Muhammad Hussein Al-Marzouqi, And Hamid Mohammed Bakhit Al Ketbi, members of the Board of Directors. Also present were Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Emirati and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department, and Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of the Marketing and Corporate Communications Department at the Federation.
His Excellency Abdul Moneim Al-Sayyed Mohammed Al Hashemi began the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the current and new members of the Board of Directors, wishing them success in their duties, and stressed the importance of their role in supporting institutional work and enhancing the Union’s progress during the next stage.
Al Hashemi stressed the need to continue working according to a clear and ambitious vision based on enhancing the status of jiu-jitsu, and building on the achievements achieved, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership to support sports and empower national talents.
He pointed out the large amount of competitions awaiting the national teams during the next stage, which will witness the largest participation in international competitions and tournaments, calling for making every effort and providing the utmost support during the stages of preparation, training and participation, in a way that contributes to their continued representation of the country and raising its flag in major international forums.
During the meeting, the Board of Directors approved the agenda for the 2026 sports season, which includes organizing and hosting a number of major local and international tournaments, most notably the eighteenth edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the President’s Cup and Vice President’s Cup for Jiu-Jitsu, the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and the Umm Al-Emarat Jiu-Jitsu Championship, in addition to a group of specific tournaments and programs that contribute to expanding the base of practitioners, enhancing community participation, and establishing a style of Healthy living, supporting sports and societal sustainability goals.
In a related context, the Council reviewed the approval of the plan to host the World Youth Championship of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which represents an important milestone in the country’s hosting of major world championships, and embodies the growing international confidence in the UAE’s organizational capabilities, its advanced sports infrastructure, and its national competencies capable of making the largest sporting events a success at the highest international standards.
The Council also approved the participation of the national team in a number of international tournaments during the next phase, including the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Asian Games in Japan, and the Beach Games in China, as part of an integrated preparation plan aimed at raising the technical and physical readiness of the players, refining their competitive skills, and enhancing the national team’s presence in major international forums in a manner befitting the country’s status and achievements.
The members of the Board of Directors affirmed their keenness to implement an integrated strategy that focuses on creating champions and discovering promising talents, and is inherently consistent with the directions of the “Year of the Family,” and enhances the role of jiu-jitsu in supporting societal values, caring for young people, and consolidating the UAE’s position as a global center for jiu-jitsu, and an inspiring model for investing in people and sports as an essential source of comprehensive development.
