Closing activities "Mod Programming Challenge"

ABU DHABI, 23rd January, 2017 (WAM) The “Ministry of Defense Programming Challenge” activities, which were held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, and Chairman of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council, were successfully concluded. The challenge witnessed a large turnout from Emirati citizens, who competed in a series of advanced competitions in the fields of programming, cybersecurity, and marches.
The competitions were held in cooperation between the ADNEC Group, the Ministry of Defense, and the EDGE Group, and aim to enhance security by developing the capabilities of an elite group of young national talents in the fields of programming and cybersecurity, in addition to discovering new talents capable of supporting the defense innovation system in the country.
The Ministry of Defense programming challenge took place every hour throughout the three days of the UMEX and SimTEX exhibitions, where participants competed in a number of challenges to test their skills.
In a related context, the Cybersecurity Challenge was organized; Which allowed participants to test their abilities in dealing with realistic scenarios that simulate real cyber attacks. The results over the three days resulted in “Team E,” which includes Maadhad Muhammad Al-Sahli, Hamdan Owais Al-Dara’i, and Khaled Khalifa Al-Dara’i, winning first place.
The team that won first place stressed the importance of participating in the cyber attacks competition, which allowed them to use technical solutions to confront such risks, pointing out that the Ministry of Defense’s programming challenge is a fruitful experience to learn about the experiences of other teams and national competencies that have tremendous potential in software and cybersecurity.
Second place was won by “Team T”, whose members are Saeed Turki Al Shamsi, Butti Hamid Al Junaibi and Hassan Rashid Al Yami. The third place came to “Team S,” consisting of Zayed Hamad Al Mazrouei, Hamad Mohammed Al Shamsi, and Hamdan Khamis Al Zeyoudi.
The Drone Challenge within the activities of UMEX 2026 also included several levels designed to measure the competence of participants through a series of advanced tasks. Competitors programmed the drones to carry out precise tasks that focus on efficiency, innovation and quality performance.
The event provided participants with an exceptional opportunity to interact with the latest drone technologies, and to communicate with an elite group of sector leaders and experts with 14 teams of participants.
The challenge resulted in “Team XENOPS” winning first place by completing the challenge in a record time of 1:46 minutes, “Team Rubber Ducks” winning second place with a time of 2:20 minutes, and third place won by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence team with a time to complete the challenge in 2:34 minutes.
In the Cybersecurity Challenge, the first place winners were awarded prizes worth 50,000 dirhams, the second place 30,000 dirhams, and the third place 20,000 dirhams.
The unmanned aircraft programming competition at UMEX 2026 included several levels aimed at evaluating the competence of participants through a series of advanced tasks.
Participants programmed the aircraft to complete missions that focused on efficiency, accuracy and creativity. The event provided a unique opportunity to interact with the latest drone technology and network with industry leaders and experts.
Participants in the various competitions relied on the latest advanced equipment and equipment, which contributed to providing a professional environment and competitive atmosphere that reflects the level of the event and the ambition of the participants.
